How I "make" my own balm...kind of

I have three aftershaves basically. The first is an alcohol based splash (TOBS Mr. Taylor), the second is Dove for men aftershave balm for sensitive skin (they also have a regular one however I choose sensitive to ensure as little scent as possible...it's just a good basic, plain balm, non greasy and alcohol free), and the third is Lucky Tiger aftershave and face tonic. The lucky tiger doesn't come into play with the balm, but I'll cover that briefly a bit later.

Now, my main issue with this particular splash comes in two parts. First being that I find the scent to be very strong, more so than the shaving cream. The second bit is that because it is so strong, I only wish to use a small amount, which becomes difficult as alcohol splashes slowly evaporate in your hand. Even if the scent was milder, I still wouldn't care to apply an alcohol splash like I would my lavender thayers. This is just an explanation as to how or why I started doing this, which is...(if you couldn't guess by now)

I put the Dove balm in my hand and use it as my base, and then a quick splash of the TOBS alcohol splash (I use a single drop) on top. All that's left is rub my hands together and apply!

You could of course do this with your nivea or whatever plain balm you have. Works really well to get a balm out of your favourite scent without buying the expensive version of it. It also makes an easier job of applying the scent of your splash more evenly as well. I will also add a drop of the TOBS splash to a handful of the lucky tiger splash for something more less heavy than a balm. The lucky tiger is alcohol free splash with all natural organic ingredients and has a light citrus/orange scent that at first compliments the Mr. Taylor, then slowly fades.

Experiment, and see what happens! Hope I've helped and got some cogs turning!

I mix rubbing alcohol, witch hazel, and some eucalyptus EO (heaviest on the witch hazel) Ido a cold water rinse when I am done with my shave and then splash this mixture on. After waiting for it to dry, I will sometimes use a balm/lotion to rehydrate. I say sometimes because I don't have naturally dry skin so the alcohol/hazel mixture is sometimes all I need. Tightens, heals, and disinfects (read:burns) all in one. Only if I feel dry do I use a balm or face lotion later.

This is just my face as I don't have too sensitive skin except on my neck at times.
