Alright gentleman, I've been SR shaving for two months now. Just got a new Ralf Aust razor. I've shaved three to four times now with it. My problem is I have sensitive skin. I am looking for ideas on post shave skin care (balms, lotions) that won't burn when applied but also holds the fragrance longer than an hour. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Based on recommendations from others here, I bought the below cream for shaving. My neck was turning bright red before, this stuff is awesome. 1-2 passes and perfectly smooth with no irritation. Attachment 174669
What you might want to consider is buying Nivea Sensitive Skin After Shaving Balm. It keeps everything under control.
I like the Aveeno aftershave stuff but the real person you want to call on is Obie.
Obie knows all sorts of soaps and such for sensitive skin
Speick sells a sensitive skin AS Balm which is very nice with a light scent. I've used it.
You will get many recommendations. I too am sensitive(sniff, sniff). I'd like to anecdotally share with you what I have found over time. Continually improving technique has appreciably desensitized my face to SR shaving. That is, better pressure and angle attention has made my face much happier. Not so, in the beginning.Quote:

I have to ask you this. Have you tried Thayer's Super medicated witch hazel? Do you use Alumbar? All post-shave, pre-aftershave treatments. I usually stop right there. If so, how does your face feel? If not, how does your face feel and look immediately post shave?

The shave damages the skin no matter the razor and products. After all, you have a sharp piece of steel skating on your skin, regardless of preparation. Obviously, some preparations work better than others, some products are better than others. By using a quality aftershave balm, you moisturize the skin and restore the nutrients it has lost. I believe using a quality aftershave balm, therefore, is essential for the skin.
Truefitt & Hill's Ultimate Comfort aftershave, an unscented product, works wonders for the skin — the shave cream is lovely. Some other aftershave balms I have tried through the years, and I don't remember all of them, include: Institute Karite, Edwin Jagger, Muhle, BAUM.BE, Trumper Skinfood, The Art of Shaving, and even Nivea, available at the local pharmacy. Most major labels offer some type of aftershave balms, scented and unscented.
