What do you guys use as your best after shave lotion/balm to heal razor burns? I have been using Thayer's Witch Hazel with Aloe first and then applying a little Tabac (I'm a Tabacoholic) balm. Wondering if anyone has come up with a "magic" formula.

My new discovery without a doubt has been Esbjerg Aftershave Oil....SRD has it, love the stuff.....I have also used the Thayers as well.
I,ll throw another out there, though I really don't get razor burn anymore , but I used Nivea for the longest time, and then gave tryed many, the hot humid days just felt better with an aftershave balm, so I got the Myrsol Emulsion, recently and this stuff is really good, my go to from here on out till something comes up better, but it's better than the 20-25 others I've tryed. YMMV. Tc
Shea butter and don't shave until it has healed. Oh and witch hazel can be most helpful.
I make my own from one part Cornhusker's Lotion, one part food grade aloe, and two to three parts Alcohol Free Thayer's Witch Hazel, depending on how thick you want it.
I got that recipe early on from an SRP member but I cannot remember who it was.
I've been using it for years and I put it on right after rinsing the alum off while my face is still wet. I follow it up with an aftershave a few minutes later.
Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel for a light to mild one. Kyoko for Men Razor Repair Balm works really well for severe.
I used Nivea but it has been a long time since any discomfort. Thayer's is used everyday, though.
Thayers makes a superhazel which is a medicated witch hazel. I've found it's just the thing for razor burn.
I was using Nivea ASB and then for Christmas the wife got me L'Occitane Cade ASB and the stuff is great! Minor skin problems have improved and no dry skin.
I really like the Baume.be aftershave balm as well as the Castle Forbes Lime. Both are outstanding!
I have Nivea post shave balm and it is great stuff for the money. I also really like the AOS sandalwood AS balm my wife bought me. Both feel great on a bit of razor burn. As mentioned above let it heal before shaving again I have found to be best advice.
Immediately after shaving i use an Alum Bar, then a little Nivea AS Balm (lately).. About 5 minutes after i hit it with a mix of Aveeno, Castor Oil and Tea Tree Oil.
Proraso White is excellent for razor burn. I am allergic to it, though, so cant use it. :(
When I do get burn, I like to use a combination of Speick Active followed by RazoRock after shave wax. Cures all ills, with a choice of nice scents from RR.
Thank you all for your replies! What I am using now is Thayer's Medicated Super Witch Hazel, follow up with one of the following ; Myrsol Emulsion, Geo. F. Trumper Sandalwood Skin Food, or Antica Barbieria Colla Red Sandalwood Aftershave Milk (got this from WCS). I especially like the Antica Barbieria Colla Red Sandalwood Aftershave Milk. It really leaves my skin soft and smooth!:o Ed
I use an alum block after each shave and rinse with cold water. I love DR Harris Arlington aftershave milk which helps with razor burn. If I get overzealous and get a bad burn I use Clinique M lotion (for men, not specifically an aftershave but it really works for me).
Go with Em's balm or Musgo Real.
After a normal shave without irritation, I too use often Nivea cream.
You cannot beat the ordinary classic (blue pot or tin) Nivea for price and quality, but if you want something that is also cheap but feels less greasy initially (but won't protect quite as long) try Nivea Soft.
There is also the recently introduced "Nivea Men" range that combines the advantages of the classic Nivea and Nivea Soft and was formulated especially "for men" but which is much pricier.
Nivea classic and Soft work well enough for me.
But for skin irritations, I found that baby creams like Penaten, or other creams that contain zinc, are much better to help irritated skin to recover.
Penaten is a truly amazing skin product that like classic Nivea has been around for longer than I care to remember. (I am 63 now and my mom used it on me when I was in my diapers.) Most of these will make you look rather white in your face (think Japanese Kabuki theatre), so this I nothing I would care too cross a busy street with, but if you apply it in the evening (or small doses on the affected neck area in the morning) it will help your skin to heal and within a few hours the white is all disappeared and your skin will feel much better.
Think about it this way: Whatever works on a baby's butt with a rash, can also work on your face. (Just make sure your get to use the cream first.) :-)
