Unusual issue with Trumpers skin food
So, I've grown to love using Trumpers limes skin food on after a shave, yet have a newly discovered issue. My girlfriend recently mentioned to me that, and this is no joke, "sometimes, your face tastes funny, when you've shaved." I happened to have the skin food with me, and when we unwisely tasted a miniscule drop, she identified it as the offending taste.
Has anyone else had a similar issue with any aftershave? And does anyone have any suggestions?
Reason for the offensive taste...
Trumpers is a glycerin based product. Glycerin is used in the food industry as a sweetener and thickening agent. I'm sure if she were to describe the taste it would "Sweet, but not sugar sweet, more nasty sweet." if that makes sense.
Glycerin has a tendency to stick around (which is why it smooths so well and protects the skin) but that means that the taste is going to be there as well.
If you take a little witch hazel and use it to thin out the skin food it may assist with absorption in the skin as witch hazel and glycerin are like peanut butter and jelly, they really compliment each other well.
Glycerin is readily available at health food stores and when mixed in about a 1-10 ratio with witch hazel it makes an awesome moisturizer and aftershave.
Just add a little natural vanilla and almond extract and your girlfriend can lick your face all she wants, you'll taste like a cookie. :hmmm:
