    Default Sample-A-Rama

Well, I was reading one of the threads yesterday about getting some product samples and noticed that I had a couple of hours to kill soooo... next thing you know, I emailed about every decent shaving products manufacturer I could find. I think around 15 or more. Now to find out who will respond. I emailed Taylor of Old Bond Street last week and they sent me three shaving cream samples. Pacific Shaving and Creamo Cream said they didn't have samples but both offered a full money back guarentee on products if I purchased. I was impressed by the fact that Mike Boone, the founder of Cremo, emailed me his guarantee. A friend of mine was in London last week and stayed in a hotel right next to Trumper. So she got an alum block for me and a couple cologne samples.

I dedicate this month to samples and the companies that offer them! I'm going to wait a couple of weeks to see who replies and then.. The samples rodeo will commence. I'll make a full report. I figure that while new to straight razor shaving I may not have the best technique yet and I can't hone worth a damn (yet), but I can contribute to the more foofy aspects of our art.

It's not that I'm looking for a hand out, I'm actually interested to see what happens. So far, Taylor spent almost as much in shipping me some samples than the price of a bottle of Pinaud Clubman.

Yes, it almost time to begin. I have gotten a bunch of samples, but only from about 5 companies. I'm hoping for a couple more this coming week.

Some of the stuff I have gotten is very nice. I haven't touched anything yet but have taken a couple of whiffs of the colognes and shave cream samples. Divine! (Meaning the heavely aroma, not the dead transvestite actor)

    Default Samples .....

If you guys are comfortable enough to go into a large, primarily women's cosmetic store, then find a store named, "Sephora" in a mall near you! They let you sample everything they sell, including all of the men's colgnes and aftershaves, and will give you small containers of any creams you wish to sample. You can go nuts, and get a zillion of them if you want.

The colognes and aftershaves you can spray onto a small plastic wand, wait a sec, and then wave it in front of your nose. They usually provide a container of coffee beans - of all things - to sniff to clear out scents between trys! Seems to work.

    Best -

Thanks again Chaaaz. I went over to thier store and before you know it, I had a bag of goodies. So, I pretty much have enough samples to begin my 'Journey". BTW, I have noticed that when you walk into some of these stores and ask to see thier "Mens shaving products" you get a nice look from the sales lady.

I managed to luck into a find like this today as well. A store called L'Occitane here in our local mall. High end soaps fragrances, shave creams, etc. from France. I've recently been buying soaps and shower gels to accentuate my shave creams and lotions and this place carries some nice stuff. A heavenly lavender (I never thought I'd like lavender lol) and something called "Cade" made with wild juniper essential oil (shrug). Smells great but a tad costly tho...
