Best bayrum.

Hello fellow shavers!

Latly I've gotten an urge to try out a bayrum. AS splashes with alcohol works great for me.Thing is, Trumpers has become my new favourite brand(even tough I have badmouthed it before:fim:), and I would like to purchase the trumper bayrum, but is this really an AS, or just a cologne? If it is a cologne, then you would reek if you used the amount i usually use of an AS splash...

If anyone know of another high quality bayrum, I would like to give those a chance.

And while I'm at it: Has anyone exp. with any of the other as from trumper? I just ordered west indian limes, astor and curzon.Can't wait to get them!

First off, I don't have a lot of experience with different aftershaves. I'm using Osage Rub, Thayers Aftershave, Alum bar, Thayers Astringent, Witch Hazel, Ogallala Bay Rum and Ogallala Lime and Peppercorn. I also have some Clubman Pinaud, but I took one whiff and I haven't had enough courage to put it on yet. :)

At any rate one thing I'll say about Ogallala Bay Rum, of the aftershaves I have, it's the one I grab when I want to calm the itch on my neck. The smell is nice, my wife likes it to, and it isn't overpowering and doesn't last that long. You can get samples from them.

Oh come now.... I understand you have a pet peeve, but this is getting silly. There's no need to keep posting about it.

And do check a dictionary sometime. "Splash" has several noun usages, including "A small amount of liquid applied to a surface." Last I checked, skin is a surface.

someone should probably try to get laid more often.....

Any problems with the spelling?

This "splash" thing is fast becoming a standing joke on the forum, I've seen a few posts where people have used it as much as possible!

I think fccexpert has some issues (or should that be splash-ues?) with the word... :D

So to try to answer your question kris,

I'm currently in love with clubman virgin island bay rum which is a delicious mix of bay rum leaf, cinnamin, citrus, cloves, and a dash of nutmeg. Hope it's available across the pond.

When you get them, can you post a review of curzon and the west indian lime both sound delicous but i'd be great to hear about them from someone who has them.

The Clubman is great stuff as already stated, so is the Royall.

There are also some pretty good ones that are sold through barber and beauty supllies such as Masters and Lustray that are worth trying.

These are the ones I have tried so far, good luck on your search.

My top three by feel on the face and conditioning, after I SPLASH them on :) I love all bay rum scents ... sorry I just do hehe

1. Royall Bay Rhum
2. Capt Smith's Bay Rum
3. Ogalalla Bay Rum

I haven't tried these other two but I love the Royall Bay Rhum as well as their Lime and Mandarin. For the Royall products I'd probably be hard pressed to rate the Lime or the Bay Rum as anything but a tie for me. I pick one or hte other based on mood, probably favoring the Bay Rum more. I'd probably use the Bay Rum more if I didn't have so much of the Lime sitting around still.

I plan on trying the Ogalalla soon. I even tossed around the idea of driving up to Nebraska to check the place out. I probably will just order stuff online, though; gas costs and all that.

What I got, and how I personally rank them.

1. Dominica Bay Rum
2. Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum ( My daily go to )
3. Ogallala Bay Rum
4. Is a split between Dominica Bay Rum w/Lime and Ogallala Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorns ( Both very nice on a hot summer day )

Just got the Dominican Bay Rum, not to fond of it. My lady likes though so I guess I'm stuck with it for now.
Do you think she would notice if I poured a little down the sink, whenever I shave?

St. John's is the best that I have used.

Dominica is another one I've been meaning to try. So much good stuff out there to play with.

Elves and ELFs are two different things.

For me it's the Ogalalla especially with sandalwood. I like their double strength cologne if I want the fragrance to last a bit longer.

Jim, one thing I liked about VB and many others like it is that it allows me to ignore users such as those. :Beer:

Tried Trumper's. It was my second bay rum. Too clovey, and no staying power. Nice bottle, though. Expensive, too.

I'm a diehard fan of St. John's. They do ship internationally. The balm is the best.

Kristoffer, You cant beat Ogallala Bay Rum. I love them all, but I'm not a big fan of the Lime/peppercorn AS. The Bay Rum/Sandalwood and Bay Rum/Lemongrass are great! Check them out.
