To be sure, just buying something is easier. So is using a disposable razor and canned shave cream! If I was looking for "easy" I wouldn't be applying 3 inches of sharp carbon steel to my neck every morning! ;-)
I like doing stuff myself, and also I already have a dozen or more pucks of Van Der Hagen Deluxe, which I like very much except for wanting a bit more fragrance from it. It melts really easily, so I thought this would be a way to make the most of what I already have.

I always add glycerin to my lather, so what I do is add the essential oils to glycerin. Often just Pimenta Racemosa, and I have other batches that I have variable combos with other essential oils, such as lime, orange, clove. Sometimes no Pimenta Racemosa and just the glycerin with pulchella.
I first do small batches in test tubes. I keep my razors in test tube racks already, so works well for me. When I find a combo that I like, I make a little larger batch and store in larger corked brown bottles that I got from Amazon.
The oils do add up in cost, BUT now you can do a similar mix in witch hazel or Rum and keep a consistent fragrance start to finish. Note:use light rum. I love the smell of Pyrat rum, and the mixes I made smelled great with it, but kinda sticky.
