English Leather
Gentlemen.
I was browsing Fragrance X recently and saw a review on an aftershave called 'English Leather'. Sort of sounds like something I may enjoy a whole lot but, as we all know, things never really work out like that.
Any of you fine gentlemen know anything about 'English Leather'?
Reviews indicated an 'old time' scent. I hope so.

English Leather is one of the quintessential old school American Classics, it has been on the market since 1949. It holds a special place in my heart because the smell of English Leather immediately makes me think of my Dad (it was one of his go to fragrances). I use it often and like it very much. Like most of the American classics, it's not fancy, sweet or girly. It has a nice clean leathery smell to it and is just brilliant. I would strongly recommend you give it a go. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever known a woman that didn't like the smell of it.

When I was a young teenager, a friend of mine introduced me to English Leather. It was among a group of after-shaves which included 007 and Hai-Karate, that was very popular in that age group. Unlike the others, it survived the test of time. I haven't used it in years but I still consider it a fine shaving lotion.

English Leather
Hello, MykelDR:
A friend introduced me to English leather aftershave in my early teens. I loved the clean, soapy and leathery fragrance. It gave me comfort. It still does.
That was many years ago. Since then, I have never been without it. Now it sits on the shave den counter next to Spanish Leather aftershaves by Truefitt & Hill and Geo F Trumper.
By the way, I have always preferred the English Leather aftershave to the cologne version. The aftershave is a touch softer.
The original English Leather is good stuff. Some stores carry variations of the original: musk or some other blends. No, thank you. Give me the original.
Regards,
Obie

English Leather is a favorite in my shave den. I do prefer vintage English Leather by MEM, over the new version. But the newer English Leather by DANA isn't bad. The newer Dana Version seems "sweeter". Or maybe my 50 year English Leather has just mellowed over time. Both are still a good old school scent.

As Above, the Dana as made today is a mere shadow of the vintage made By MEM.
You can find plenty of it on the bay for cheap.
