i quite enjoyed a cold water shave this afternoon and finished it off with the lovely aqua velva ice blue..
it is my only mentholated aftershave and i'm considering expanding in that area.. how do the other mentholated aftershaves stack up? i'd like to know which excel in the toner department as well as scent..
i'm considering alt insbruck and perhaps one of the floids.. any suggestions?
I'm not too sure that it's really menthol in it but, Osage rub is by far the "coolest" stuff that I've ever put on my face. It's sort of like your Aqua Velva Ice Blue X100. Seriously cooling sensation...
In my opinion the Floid Vigoroso is nicely mentholated. Not as cooling as the Osage Rub, but still a refreshing face tonic after one's shave.
I prefer it during the warmer spring and summer months as an aftershave.
Although I wouldn't classify it as an aftershave, but more of an aftershave balm, try some Alcolado Glacial. Brrrrrrrr! It's chilling.
Though I've not tried it, I understand the Proraso aftershave is full of mentholated goodness
Alt-Innsbruck will light you up pretty well.
I remember the first time I used it...I had no idea.
It's my goto if the cob webs just won't clear.
Proraso is very nice as well...but for me Alt-Innsbruck has the stronger "kick."
I have some "blue" Floid coming...I hear that is pretty refreshing.

thanks guys.. can somebody describe the scent of osage rub for me?
My Personal favorite is Alt Innsbruck. I have never been much of an Osage Rub fan...for some reason it reminds me of cough syrup.
scent is important to me.. so i don't want to get a great burn and then have to end up smelling like vicks rub.. even if my name is vic.
how many floids are there? i recall obie saying one smelled of hard candy.. i'd like to avoid that.
I have Proraso and is one of my favorites also an oldie but a goodie is Brut aftershave
There are at least three Floids. All of them have a nice low-key fragrance/scent. The "Genuine," the "Blue" (menthol) and the "Vigoroso" (More menthol kick than the Blue, but won't give your face frostbite.):)Quote:

Mentholated After shaves have all left me unsatisfied. I now just add menthol crystals to my favorite AS. I can have the scent I like with the menthol freeze.

I recommend Osage Rub. The #3 ingredient is menthol. Simply put, you're not going to get a more cooling menthol anywhere else. It's......invigorating to say the least.

Oh, thats just the beginning. A very small pinch into your shave bowl when you whip your cream, 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon into a bottle of liquid shower soap, 1/8 teaspoon into melted puck of soap. If you like menthol it's cool addition to the shave den. :DQuote:

It's a pretty low key barber shop smell...stayed with me an hour or so.
