I understand marketing ploys where the "tester not for sale" bottles are much stronger and longer lasting but for a premium product you would expect it to perform. I've also read people's disappointment with some of Tom Ford's fragrances that just last a few hours at most.

I have never found testers to be better or worse. I know there are batch variations but for whatever reason it just doesn't work for me. Some report no problems so maybe its just my skin. The Armaf CDNIMI edt works well for me and unless smelling at skin level you cant really tell the difference.

Tom Ford is hit and miss same as Jo Malone. Some are excellent and others have just mediocre performance
