Hello gentlemen,
Was doing some research on aftershaves, was looking at the Old Spice and Axe aftershaves, I haven't used either of them so I came here to see if anyone else has used them. I have seen the prices.. Old Spice more expensive, Axe not so expensive. Does price effect their performence? To those people that have used these aftershaves please let me know what you think, and which one is worth more getting.

I've never used Axe, but Old Spice is a tradition for generations. I use it about once a week.
I'm a sucker for tradition, so Old Spice it is for me as well. I'm not sure how much it costs where you live, but here it's well under $10 IIRC.
Forget that whole "women will attack you for wearing Axe" nonsense. Axe makes you smell like a 13 year old boy in line for a Justin Beiber concert hoping some girl will bump into your genitals just so you can say you got some "play". (Is the word 'play' still in use? Oh well...) However, Old Spice is a traditional manly scent. It's been used by generations of men and it has a lot more sophistication in scent than something like Axe.
Spend the extra couple bucks. You'll be glad you did.

I use Old Spice Pure Sport once in a while. I like it and so does the wife. ;)
I prefer the Pure Sport to Classic Old Spice.
+1 for old spice, i have not smelled anything by axe that smells anywhere near good.

One of the biggest myths of after shaves, in my opinion, is that it needs to say aftershave on the bottle :)
I had an old bottle of old spice that I began using religiously until it was gone. Just bought a new one, classic scent, and it smells awful. Nothing like the old bottle. Anybody know about a change in their chemistry over the last few years?
Nobody here likes the Dark Temptation Chocolate Axe smell? I like it, but I think Old Spice is definetly the way to go here gents. "Smell like a man, man." Hehe :D :D
Wanna smell like a man ? Try Irisch Moos. This one is also a pain reliever AND a good moisturizer (not sure of the spelling sorry).
Again, anything axe (IMO), especially chocolate axe, should be something left in high school locker rooms...or the shelf at the store lol
I honestly can't stand most modern products. I bought a bottle of Nivea aftershave and immediately brought it back and returned it. I find everything now-a-days is so perfumey and they all kind of smell the same too...like cheap after shave. Even old spice apparently doesn't smell like it used to.
I've heard that Lucky Tiger is good, but I haven't had the chance to try it myself. Irisch Moos seems to be an old name as well. Maybe try some DR Harris or Proraso products.
Basically, I'd try to find something from before they stopped caring about men and our personal grooming and started pushing consumerism down our throats lol
I hate how everything's almost like propaganda now...like all of the current old spice commercials that try to brainwash you into believing that their products are the manliest lol
Maybe it's just me, but I find the classic stuff to be the best stuff haha :p
If you want that classic type scent of Old Spice with the modern obnoxious (just my opinion) appeal of Axe, you could always go with Hi Karate?
I understand the hate for Axe's marketing to highschoolers, but they have a special place in my heart because of their "just clean" shampoo. I hate shopping for shampoo because everything is for curly, damaged, color-treated hair or smells like strawberrys/mangos/name-your-fruit-of-choice. So when I saw a shampoo labeled "just clean," I was all over it. Can't speak for their aftershaves though. I like Speick and Clubman Pinaud myself.
I have old spice after shave and cologne which I do like, and have actually been using since high school ha ha. Just make sure if you want the classic smell you get the white bottle, not any of the sprays ect. With that being said the Fiji Oldspice line is actually very nice. I have about 15 different aftershaves and 11 cologne i use so both Fiji and classic are in the cycle
Yes, when Proctor & Gamble bought Old Spice (several years ago) they reformulated it and put it in a plastic bottle, and almost everyone thinks it's inferior to the classic version. I say almost because there are some that don't believe the reformula "theory" - there are several arguments on this topic here and on other shaving forums.Quote:

I have both, (Axe, is marketed as Lynx in the UK, where I purchased it). I have the dark temptation, which is one of two fragrances they make, that I like.
The old Spice is purchased in Doha, where it is widely available, only in glass and is dirt cheap.

I got Old Spice a few days ago , for me the scent faded pretty quickly.

I am confused regarding old spice. Ive had the glass bottle for years and been using it daily. Except for those few travelling days where i use nivea aftershave (finishing an old bottle, not a bad product). So anyways, as i realized i was running out (1/3 left) i grabbed another bottle of it from the mart which i suspected to be plastic. But its the same glass material as the old one but a little denser (the clings are of lower pitch). It is an aftershave spray and has a red plastic cap and brass around the neck just beneath the spray head. It also smells ALOT/EXACTLY like the old old spice. Infact, i cant smell a difference. It was also the only one left on the shell, whats going on here?
To OP, old spice is the way to go, but if axe has your preference then i hope it serves you well :)
Did the old school ones not have a grey cap? I dont know but my buddies old spice after shave definatly smells different then mine ha ha
