R. Barlach, Fjaril. Swedish made. I replaced the scales but this 4/8 was my first.
A long time, if done properly. They've been putting things in scales for 200 years or more.
Late 1700- early 1800s

And the countless bolstered scales, from the 1900s

Just gotta look around.
If it was done like they did back then, it should last.

The decoration on the blade last for just about as long as the razor as far as i know, mine is as good as the day i got it.
I just dry it with kitchen roll and leave it in the bedroom overnight then put with the others and some silica gel.
I don't coat the blades because i use them every other day as their turn comes around and i don't scrub with the kitchen roll, I dry, gently then 40 on cotton and 40 on leather then 60 cotton and 100 leather before i shave next.
