Just received my Rigarazor from Sergej. It is a classic 9/8 replica of an old Sheffield wedge with dark horn scales and brass bullseye washers. It arrived yesterday packaged in a beautiful display/travel box. Tried it out last night and was very pleased with the thin bevel and keen shaving edge. It feels great in my hand and was very easy to strop. The tungsten steel seems very similar to the fine Sheffield carbon steel of old and understand from others that it will keep a fine edge. The workmanship is just superb in every regard and I am very happy with this addition to my collection. Sergej crafted two of these at the same time and it's mate is on eBay, if interested. Also better photos of this beauty as well. Show and tell! Just to share.
That's a real beauty! I've been watching the one on ebay. I'd love to add another to my collection. Like to try one of the Tungsten steel.
Sergej makes a great razor. He is a master craftsman. The upper jimps on my razor are really nice as well. The tungsten steel is something special. He is proud of that secret formula steel. I assume you have been around long enough to know the normal way it is done (click the little picture icon etc.) so if you are having the same problem i've been having (I think it is a google problem) i ended up logging in under Microsoft edge and then it seems to work fine.Quote:

Just wanted to share my recent acquisition from Sergej at RigaRazor. It is a 9/8 Tungsten. Sent him several pictures to use for the design. It took him about two weeks to finish it up and another three weeks in the mail. Well worth it. Have shaved with it twice, and it provides a super keen shave. Beautiful thin bevel. He remains a top tier bladesmith world wide IMHO. Just to show and tell. Very happy with my new razor! Thanks, Austin

Phrank, yours was one of the reference photos I sent to him. Know you have several RigaRazors as well. Sergej does really well with the tungsten Steel. They do feel similar to the old Sheffields but seems to have a keener edge. Never seems to dull, just occasional stropping. Great razors.
How was his honing on the razor lately? I'm fairly certain Sergej doesn't hone the razors himself, he asked me a few times about what I thought about the edges and said he would pass on what I had said. The last two razors I got from him the edge was much better, with the last one being the best.Quote:

This edge was really nice, better than my previous RigaRazor. This razor was sent by someone other than Sergej. Probably the same person who has been listing his razors on the bay. Maybe hones them as well. Sergej has a good business going as he blows through the collars I send him. Sells a lot of razors all over Europe for sure.
Agreed - I remember seeing his razors, contacting him and thinking I'd give him a chance after reading his edges weren't great. But figured I've always honed any razor I've received, regardless if it's listed as, "shave ready" unless it's from someone I know.Quote:

I’m sure sergi hones all his razors himself? I have four and love the way they shave , with a light touch there perfect. In fact I no he hones is own razors and in my opinion he is one if very thew razor makers that makes amazing razors at amazingly prices and they shave sharp and smooth straight out the box .

These razors look fantastic. Does he only sell on Etsy and EBay? I don’t see any prices for razors. What’s the ballpark $? Would love one of these but don’t want to go broke buying one.
