Unfortunately, in the Geo.Wostenholm catalogue about it nothing.

Unfortunately, in the Geo.Wostenholm catalogue about it nothing.

I have made small experiment concerning edge use.
Took Wostenholm catalogue (pic 1) where razors full-scale and have put the razor (pic 2).
Conclusion: practically one in one, means its width indeed - 5/8.
Heres my first pipe, its just as I found it.
One more excellent Wostenholm.
In 1917 it costed $23 per dozen! =))
I think you'll see my humble collection of Wostenholm's soon.
I try to do background for my collection, and after this I'll do photos.
But some razors, you can see here.
Here is my Pipe :D It was shipped today and I can't wait to get it :)
Really looking forward to getting it up and running..
Beautiful sisters.=))
Here's a new one I just picked up real ivory, did the pin test & everything. HInge pin is a bit sloppy and there's rust on the etching, hopefully I'll be able to save it.
"George Wostenholm & Sons", frameback.
More details about this razor.
Here is my recent acquisition. I would definitely use some help to identify what the scales are made from. It feels like horn, polishing like horn but doesn’t looks like horn.

looks like horn to me.
The alternative is bakelite. You could test it on the back side of one scale (inside), trying to penetrate it with a thin metal pin: horn usually is softer. Under hot water, bakelite smells "different".. but this is not the right test for your nice scales. [I have a Robert Klaas and two W&B's razors with very similar scales: two are bakelite, one horn  ].
I will pretend that this is horn :)
I hate flash. That's why I don't have one on my camera. Downside of it, it is difficult to create the same light if you do reshooting when you are not in studio. Here is other side of the razor, I thought you might want to see it.

Frome those light "scratches", I'd say that's horn. ..OK, now?? :)
I agree with clavichord - horn.
One more Wostenholm.
That's a beauty Alex!
In a previous thread I mentioned my lovely wife found a Wostenholm while antiquing. Bless her heart she had no idea what she was purchasing, it was black and that was enough for her.
It had some rusting on the blade, spine and tang but not too much.

I sent it to Ken at RupRazor and he worked his magic. From the time I sent it to him, til the time it was received it took less than a week!! Though the picture quality leaves MUCH to be desired for, it looks practically new. Unfortunately, the gold wash had to be removed during the restoration. Now I just need to wait another day so I can take it for a test drive.

I checked the Razor Database and couldn't find one similar. Should I try to take better pictures and add it to the db?
Peace and blessings!

And one more beautiful Wostenholm.
It's not razor, but interesting desk knife made by Wostenholm.
I have had the ivory colored one for a while. I saw the black one on eBay and had to bring these two together. I hadn't seen the black scaled, round tipped version. I think it is a good match. The black spot on the round tip's edge honed off easily.
I found this bueatiful medium hollow at a local antique joint earlier this week. The scales were cracked so I took this celuloid set I had lying around. Fits great and looks even better. I like the satin look, but am debating taking my micromeshes to it.

We need some of these added to the Wiki. ;)
i am anxiously awaiting my own pipe i won off ebay (should be in any day now) i have a few days off work and dont know yet for sure what im going to do with it, it needs knew handles and will be my biggest restore job yet
im very excited ill be sure and post some pics when i get it done
I don't smoke but thought I might bring my Pipe along and see if I could join the club. A plain, nothin' fancy George Wostenholm Pipe 5/8 round point with Tennessee Black Walnut scales I made myself, finished with 1000k wet/dry and sealed with clear satin then waxed with Turtle Wax 100% Carnauba Blend. Not much else to say except.....nice shaver!
They shave better than they look.
I've got two pipe razors so far. The first is as I found it in an antique shop, just polished up: a 3/4 blade 1/2 hollow square point with a bit of toe wear. The second is one I restored, and am just finishing honing. An "Original Pipe Razor" done in ebony scales with a cocobolo wedge spacer. Left mild pitting for the 'old pipe' look.
here are mine
A Geo. Wostenholm & Son I just picked up. Does anyone have a date of manufacture on it?

Left to right, a restored pipe razor I got from theinvisibleedge, a nice etched IXL I picked up off the bay and cleaned up a bit, and another IXL I haven't gotten around to working on yet.
Very interesting Wostenholm razor.
Never saw the price on the blade, that was made as stamp.

I'll give you double the sticker price for it :D
Lee, you're very generous.:)
That's a fantastic looking razor Manah.. Where did you get that beauty?
