    Default The FrameBack Fanciers

I would like to apply for a charter to start The FrameBack Fanciers I have 2 at the moment but intend to get more, so come on show us yours whether they be fixed or removable bladed there’s just something very elegant about them, but I am talking about proper FrameBack’s not the handles you put broken De blades into.
These are mine the first is a Sarry-Thiers Le Talisman, the second is a 1 I have just received from razorexchange and needs to be cleaned up a little just stamped as Sheffield made on the tang but there has to be lots more out there plain or fancy let’s see them

This club will go over pretty good! I have a nice 6/8's American made frameback and several English concave grinds, which are also known as "faux" or "fake framebacks"!

Nice razor! I wish that I could join your club but I sold my framebacks to help fund the custom Zowada that I have on order. Sometimes I really miss them but hopefully the Zowada will cheer me up.

The Sheffielders who made them knew them as "rattlers".

    Default W. Gilchrist

Here is my first frameback. (My first top quality razor too.) And here is what I know about it:

It's a W. Gilchrist of Jersey City (1851-1861). I bought it from Lawrence Valmont. Josh Earl did the restoration work in December 2007. The blade is 11/16" and closes a hair off center. The scales are African Mahogany. The pins and spacer are brass. And I'm afraid to use it because I ruin it. =/

What a lovely razor! Thank you, Lawrence.

Here's my few; Robert Williams with mammoth ivory, a W&B that a dog chewed the scale end and a pair of Heljestrands. If that'll do it count me in.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
