1827 - 1838 AFAIKT.
Looks unused.
Matt came up with another Brookes and Crookes, and I had a dresser case just waiting ….
I have posted about this one before but it makes sense to post it here also. This is an S.Crookes & Son (S being for Samuel) 8/8", 1/4 hollow in streaked honey horn. It has a bold streak on one side and a sunburst on the other.

This one is a big heavy beast with a wicked edge, a true chopper that.
Not much information on this Crookes compared to most of the others in the gaggle of them. Here is what I was able to find

Great information on that listing about the myriad of Crookes and their associations, Samuel is not mentioned in any other write up and the "Son" is not named so it is unclear if he might be associated with any other mentioned.
Just got a B&C. Had to make new scales for it, but they're at least the same shape as the originals. I'll post some pics if someone will tell me how.
Hey Ed. Good to hear from you. Been a while. If you're in the full site (as opposed to the mobile version) go to the top right of the quick reply box and you will see a row of icons.

Looks good. I had to look up katalox. I had heard of it by the name Mexican ebony. Nice looking work.
