I'm reasonably certain it's seen wear / regrinding over time (though would have to see it up close to be sure). They generally had a triangular shape (you wouldn't see that concavity around the heel-to-blade transition), and deviations are often a sign of reshaping over the ages. Here are some unchanged examples:

I am pretty certain it hasn't been on a wheel to be reground. At most, someone put a very subtle flat on the bottom of the tang to make it less of a ridge and that is what you are seeing.

On the bottom is an unidentified razor most likely from some time in the 1600’s, above it is a Samuel Creswick razor from Sheffield in the 1720’s and again the same Wade & Butcher for comparison.
(as an aside, what looks like wooden scales on the Samuel Creswick razor are actually bone)

    I hope this helps!
It just occurred to me that the mark on the Samuel Creswick matches this shorty I posted here -

I initially had it pegged as a Birks, but the "Z" (or is that an "N"?) always made me wonder...could it be the same mark? (Note: and same "wooden looking but actually bone" scales too, though I ended up needing to use a newly made one)

Just received this in a group of razors I bought. Was the only one I was interested in and luckily paid what I wanted to for just the one razor, the others will be useable after some tweaking and restoration work. Anyways, it’s a Lisbon Cast Steel, the shield on the scales is really interesting to me. I can’t currently tell what the inlay is. I’m trying to figure out whether I want to try and restore this or leave it to a professional. There is a bit of rust at the edge but should clean up well enough to use with not too much work. Looks like I forgot to photograph the pile side, I’ll edit the post later tonight when I get home.

Pretty cool one. There's a good chance that case is at least of the period.

There is no way for me to tell about the coffin. Pretty darn cool though. It appears to be the oldest one I have and given the shape it is in, even if it isn’t the correct box. The razor fits well in it.

I think I may have owned that one back when I was a young man in the 1800s.

yes, and it must be restored as much as the razor because it is rare

I take this opportunity to ask if someone can give advice for the restoration of the coffins, in particular for the color and the products to protect them.
