A $15.00 Gamble on a Hart pays off

A member rescaled his 6/8 Hart and put the original wooden scales in the classifieds at $15.00 shipped. I gambled that the 6/8 scales would fit my 7/8 Hart and they are perfect. I hated the ugly (to me) G-10 scales enough that I was thinking of selling the razor even though it is a darn good shaver. Now with these 'new' scales, ren waxed for protection from moisture it is a favorite. They fit perfect. :tu

I think this is one thing I REALLY like about Harts. You can customize them a bit. I'm still tweaking mine from time to time.

Edit to add. I have a 6/8 and a 7/8 and cannot see any difference in the scales that they came with. I now have 5 sets of scales for them and they are all dimensionally equal (at least to the extent of my abilities to make them that way).

So what is the story on that Hart? It looks "special"

I have a 6/8 Baxter, the Kamisori and a 7/8 Satin Square point but the tip and heel of yours is exceptional...
And do I see that it is no jimps ?

And thanks for sharing, like bongo I like happy endings and I am going to get some ren wax...

Back when dfriedl posted a thread wishing that someone would make an SRP Limited Edition razor, like the one in the logo at the top of the page, the ball got rolling. After awhile I followed Dave's lead by posting a poll to show prospective vendors, who might sponsor such a razor, that there was enough interest to warrant it.

No one was in a hurry to step up to the plate and then Hart produced a one off, displayed on the Classic site, as "Razor Forum Blues." I had always wanted a Hart but never saw a shape that appealed to me. This barber's notch wedge wasn't close to looking like the SRP logo, but it appealed to me and I went for it. That is how this unusual Hart came to be. Robert Williams ended up making a perfect representation of the logo razor and the rest is history.
