Hope you'll forgive that I joined your forum to see if I could get general info on the age of a straight razor I inherited recently. (The other similar thread I found on this was back in 2008, I believe)

The razor belonged to a great uncle (1872-1961).
The shank on the blade says: Lion Brand Co., Manufactured by Yankee Cutlery with another engraving "Each blade magnetized Germany" on the other side of the blade base. Another clue may be that the handle appears to be a type of plastic - not wood. The first "true plastic" - Bakelite - was trademarked in 1909 - so that puts the razor date at least after that.

I followed the 2008 forum suggestion and went to a website with manufacturers and dates. I could not find Lion Brand on that list, but: Yankee Cutlery info says:
YANKEE CUTLERY CO Trademark of Reichard until 1933, then of American Safety Razor ca. 1903 - 1953,
Reichard's reference there says:
REICHARD & SCHEUBER MFG CO 66 Duane St., New York City Later became American Safety Razor Co. ca. 1903 - 1920

Would the reference on the blade to "German" lean towards it being the Reichard time period? Since neither "Reichard" or "American Safety Razor" can be found on the razor, what do you suggest in order for me to pin down the age a bit more?

Thanks much.
