I paid $10 for it, was not able to find anything about it online. Its 5/8 wide and 2 1/4 long. What are the scales made of? Just want to know if this is worth cleaning up, want it as back up razor for when time comes to re hone my Red Point. Thank you in advance again!!

I'm guessing the scales are plain celluloid, but I could be wrong. Whether it is worth cleaning up is entirely up to you. I would definitely go for it, also because I really like the shape of the blade. Start out with some steel polish to clean up surface rust and minor spots, and drop to sand paper if you feel like it.

Yes, it is. You may want to read up on buffing in the Wiki.
The two most important things are safety and heat build-up. As for safety: use common sense, ask around if you're in doubt and remember that a blunt razor is still sharp enough to easily cut you up if you lose your grip on it. To prevent overheating, keep a finger behind the part of the blade that touches the buffing wheel. As long as you can touch it, there is no chance of overheating. You may want to keep a glass of ice water close to cool it down regularly.

Cleaned up a bit, am I right to say that this razor has not seen any use to speak of..?

The scales look like bone to me. I would say it was hardly used, based on the lack of wear on the spine. I like it.

Very ice looking $10.00 razor. Should shave well. I have several low cost razors and after cleaning up and honing, they all have turned out to be great shavers.
Well I guess the conundrum is:
a) to send it out and hone it
b) or start to hone self
The scales are quite thin and do not appear plastic or cellulose. I want to hone it myself but I don't have hones and my common sense says to send it out. I love how it feels in the hand very light and overall smaller than my Redpoint. Just picked up a pair of W&B razors, one of them is in really nice shape.
That depends on whether you think you'll want to restore more razors. If yes, you'll need a setup like 1K/4K/8K/12 or 16K to get from very dull to shave-ready. If not, you can get by with only a finisher (such as Naniwa Super Stone 12K or Shapton Glass Stone 16K) to maintain your razors and have this one honed by someone else.
I have to say, I find restoring and honing quite addictive and as such have the Shapton 1K/4K/8K/16K and a few natural hones. All in all, I spent around 4 times as much on hones as I did on razors :thinking:
Update. The razor came back from sharpening and it is like a laser. So much so that it gave me my first razor cut. An awesome find. Six gun did an amazing job on all the razors. Thx Glen
