Sorry. Here it is.
Nice blade, shave whit it and forget the nr 48. i think its only a production stamp (not an age stamp)
Lots of numbers out there and never figured any of them out. Model # is what I call them. May mean April 8th. Maybe the guys age that came up with the design. It looks like a 5/8 not a 4/8.. How does it shave? It sure is pretty.
Tomorrow will be my first shave with it. I'm pretty excited! Thanks for the info.
"Kiebitz" is a variation of the Hebrew root ק-ב-ץ, meaning "gather" or "gathering". In the Torah, it is found several times in Kings I and II -- קבוץ גלויות -- meaning "in-gathering of the exiles". In modern Hebrew, a קיבוץ (kibbutz) is a "communal living arrangement", usually rural, generally agricultural (but increasingly higher-tech, smaller factories); and the familiar "kibbitz" refers to a gathering of adult men -- barber shops were a common focal point -- where they discussed and debated the goings-on of the day. "Kiebitz" is an acknowledgement to the Israeli kibbutz movement of the mid-1800s through early-1900s, and a limited-run of these razors was manufactured (in Germany, of all places) during the 1950s for a group of wetshaving German Zionists, who had immigrated to Israel -- their use of the number "48" refers to the founding (in May 1948) of the modern State of Israel.
Seriously? I dunno... but it sounds good; better than "'Kiebitz' was going to be the name for pop-in-your-mouth-sized cookies, home-made by the Keebler elves", no?
Smooth shaving!
That's all very interesting JBHoren, but in this case, Kiebitz is just a bird. The bird depicted on the logo of the razor :D
