Although I do have a few nice razors generally speaking I use my featherlight shaveette (sp) due to the connivence of not having to hone as I am just to lazy sometimes. Anyway the bug has bit and I want to buy a Brand new shiny razor so its between a Hart or A big wedge if I can find one with in my budget.
So what do you guys think wait to find the wedge or go with a Hart ?

Do you really want a shave-ready wedge or are you willing to restore one ?
"Brand-new shiny wedges" are real nice, sure, but the experience of
restoring a good vintage blade is very satisfying. All that history :).
So far, I've never bought a new straight (except G.D. 66's) so maybe
I'm not qualified to give an opinion here.
Whatever you decide, let us know !! (and post photos) .

Ya , I am not a restore it myself kinda guy (no tools , no time to do it but most importantly no desire to ) . I currently do not own a Fresh out the box razor all of mine are restores I have bought from here so I am not opposed at all to buying redone wedge.

I've bought several restored straights from the SRP Classifieds and have been VERY happy.
Keep looking before you decide on the Hart if you don't have a deadline.

I heard quite mixed reports on the hart razors, but maybe that was just the early ones, I am unsure. From your post it sounds like you really want a wedge, so thats what I would wait for. Other than that I can't comment as I don't own either.

You crave for A Brand new Shiny Razor. You are in doubt whether it shall be a Hart or a wedge. Here we are entering two totally different worlds.
A Hart is a brand.
A wedge is a type.
I don't own a single Hart but I spent quite some time on the firmīs site. I must say, it looks good. On a non customīs base it offers the opportunity to compose a razor by means of a pre-baked formula. There are lots of choices. But as far as I found, there is no choice in type of grind at all. Itīs all 1/1 hollow and thatīs it.
A wedge is a basic type of razor manufactured many decades ago, I quote C. Moss: "Practically all modern straight razors, and a large majority of those made over the last 130 years are fully hollowed."
I'm not going to open a new thread about The Wedge Razor vs Hollow Ground here because they can be found in abundance on this site.
So, in my humble opinion, you will never find a Brand New Wedge. In the days that these type of razors were manufactured people did not collect them in order to throw them on the market after a century and a few generations later as NOS.
In these days, let alone exemptions that I'm not aware of, is the closest thing to a wedge, present to acquire brand new, a 1/4 hollow. And as far as know, this grind is not offered by the regular manufacturers. The 1/4 hollow world is ruled by the custom makers. This is a club of which the firm Hart is not a member.
I'd like to read the result of your decision.

I must return to my conclusion that Hart Steel manufacture 1/1 hollow razors. I appear to have relied on images, and then have that taken for granted. Coincidentally I walked on the Web at a review of which showed that Hart Steel razor is a quarter hollow and that Tim Zowada has had a hand on the design of the razor. Also my conclusion that near wedges can only be found on the custom market is therefore wrong.
