Razor Identification
I recently purchased a straight razor from an antiques shop and am looking for some help on the identification and the age of the razor. I believe this is a Wade & Butcher double hollow ground razor, but the tang only has W&S then a word I can not make out along with what looks like RED MILL WORKS followed by Sheffield. I have included photographs, but due to the fact that this appears to be an older razor the stamping appears to be worn. Thank you for your help with this.

What makes you so sure it's a W&B? Looks like a 'generic' 1860-80's 1/4 - maybe 1/2 hollow to me... Based in ur pics that is... By double hollow do you mean double stabilizer? I on my see one stabilizer JB the op pics..
Edit; looks like the heel *may have been* reworked on this one..... Hard to tell in the pics. Probinly a good shaver.. Most like her are!

Im not completely sure but it could be a W&B ... W&S stood for william and samual (i belive it was) Butcher before the company became W&B ... also red mill works appears to be an importing exporting company that went under in to late 1800s as far as i can find ... could be a very intresting peice with a story to tell ... hope one of the better historians knows more as i am just a hobby historian and i would love to add this info to my note books

It looks like a "W & S Horrabin", Red Hill Works, Sheffield....

Based on martins excellent info above my time line fits 1860-80's
Not a wade and butcher like OP thinks, but a post civil war Sheffield for sure none the less.
