    Default Antique Store Finds

I want to start of by mentioning that when trolling antique stores around my parts it is often hard to find straight razors. When you do, they are often over honed, or cracked, and have plain black scales. Imagine my surprise when I come across these relatively nice pieces:

A nice "Blue Diamond" Grah & Plumacher, Solingen - Weyer, Germany. Gorgeous scales in pristine condition, a litte bit of oxidization on the blade which can be polished out:

This razor has obviously been re-scaled. The scales read Cremer-Wedge. The razor is not a wedge, it is hollow ground. A tiny chip on the blade which can be honed out. Otherwise in nice shape. The scales are nothing special, but again, better than your typical run-of-the-mill antique store junk:

It is a good thing these razors came along as I was getting the itch for some more razors. $25cdn each, which isn't too bad. I image they would go for more on ebay. Maybe you straight experts can tell me more about them. I am going to hone them up tonight.

I'm really digging the scales on the Blue Diamond. Sweet find.

I've honed several George Wostenholm & Sons razors, and they've all been nice shavers. I like the etching on the blade on that one, too. Might be a nice candidate for a set of custom scales someday...

    Nice finds.
