    Default Seeking Information

I have taken on a project and I am having some trouble finding the information that I am after.
I have come across a straight razor that has been around for quite some time in the family. I will post some pictures when my camera is working again. The tang is stamped "John S. Holler & Co Celebrated Razor" on one side, and is stamped on the other side of the tang with an image of a "tower with a bell shaped top and a flag" running parallel with the direction of the blade. There is also the number "2" stamped on the tang just before "John S Holler". I believe the scales are made from either ivory(or some type of bone) or celluloid.

My understanding is that this company was in operation from 1867 to 1906, and that the razors were manufactured in both England and Germany under the Tower Brand. I am also lead to believe this item was produced sometime between 1867 and 1888 due to the brand marking being changed to run perpendicular to the direction of the blade.

Any and all additional information, and corrections, on this piece would be greatly appreciated. I am interested in all information related to this razor, but the approximate age of the razor is of particular interest to me.

Pictures are coming, turns out my camera's resolution isn't sufficient to capture a good picture.
