I don't know much about the brand but I will say that is quite the razor to look at. I don't know if I have seen one so striking.
Way over priced for me. It has chips and has lost 70% of the etching on the blade from being cleaned up. I have no idea what the scales are worth.
Maybe I'm wrong and they are worth it. I'm always willing to be wrong.
Yea, the scales might be worth something but the blade is chipped pretty badly.

The chips can be fixed dont they? What ive found is that the brand joseph rodgers & sons was the royal cutler and that the blade might be from the 1840-1890's during queen victoria reign
You could have the chips honed out and Joseph Rodgers made beautiful razors. I've never seen one go for that much though. I found one that sold for 350 on the bay but the condition was far greater.
Yeah i believe that the silver scales are what made the high price
It's a beautiful set up I just think the razor has seen it's fair share of life. And if I were looking to spend a fair amount of money for a razor with sterling silver scales I would hold off and find something a little better taken care of. Just my opinion.
I have a couple of Joseph Rodgers razors and they shave very nicely - there's some information here.
But mine have plastic scales and only cost tens of dollars.
That's a collectors piece. Sterling Silver Scales usually go for a high price regardless of the razor itself.
