Does anyone know which model this is? What kind of blades does it use? What's it worth? I think its the 1921 new standard silver but i'm not sure. Sorry for the bad pics, I asked my mom to dig this thing out of storage and mail it to me now that i'm starting wet shaving. Attachment 143362Attachment 143361
It takes regular double-edged blades. It looks like a Gillette "New Standard" -- what's the serial number? Polish it up and give it a go (and take a photo!) Here's one of my 1921 "New Standard":

I think you are in the right timeframe. I think it went by different names depending on how it was packaged. I refer to mine like that as a Bostonian. Google Mr Razor, the best Gillette identity site you are likely to ever find.
Ill have to wait until I receive it to check the serial number. Can't wait to polish it up! This was my grandpas and I can't wait to try it out. I got sick and tired of crappy shaves and ingrown hair with my mach 5. Hopefully this works out for me!
I generally shave with a straight razor -- I feel it like a "responsibility", and yes, I do enjoy it -- but I continue to perform routine maintenance on my Gillette double-edged razors and Schick injector razors, and I use them, from time to time. I can't wait to see yours polished. From my experience with my 1921 "New Standard" (which arrived "black as the ace of spades"), it'll take some focused cleaning-and-polishing, with lots of elbow grease. Worth it... I guarantee it. You'll want to use it for your next shave. If you haven't done so, you can buy "regular" double-edged safety razor blades at CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and many others... maybe even in some supermarket chains. This model is a great shaver, with a heft that lets you know it's there, but not so much that you can't wield it like the ninja you are. Photos... please.Quote:

Here is a little bit of an update. Still not the greatest pics but my Mom put some elbow grease into the thing and it looks way better already! Should arrive in the mail tomorrow!

According to Gillette Date Codes for Double Edge Safety Razors and Blades it dates to 1924.

I just cleaned it using the baking soda method and its looking good! I ordered some MAAS polish to finish it off. Unfortunately there are 2 cracks on the top of the tube/handle. Any tips on what to do for those (you can see the cracks in the pics)? Also, the combs on one side are bent in but it seems quite uniform. Is that how it was made from the factory or are those bends from something else?

The cracks in the tubes on the handles from that period are pretty common. It's actually pretty hard to find one without cracks. The teeth should not be bent, probably dropped at some point. You can try fitting something like the barrel of a pen over the bent teeth and carefully straightening them.
