What is the best thing to clean razor with ?

After the daily shave, besides water what would be the best to clean the blade with ? Is water already enough ? Sometimes the shaving cream gunk seems to be a tough to come off totally.

I use a little rubbing alcohol. It not only cleans the blade well but also ensures that there is no residual water that can lead to rust forming.

I clean mine with a fresh dry towel and give it a light strop and sometimes oil the pivot

I rinse the blade under the tap, wipe with a kleenex tissue, strop 20 on leather and put it away. I also sometimes wipe down with a silicone gun clothe impregnated with Birchwood-Casey R.I.G. (rust inhibiting grease) ..... great stuff for blades, guns, that sort of thing.

BE careful with solvents and harsh chemicals. You may find your scales sticking to your fingers the next time you use it.

I just rinse mine with hot water from the tap and then use a micro fibre cloth to wipe and polish the blade before putting it away.
The odd time that a water spot appears, a little Mothers Mag and aluminum polish on a q-tip or cloth takes care of that in short order.

Tuf-Glide is my inhibitor-of-choice. I ought to strop, after shaving (like I ought to brush, after eating), but I don't do either... always "later". :)

Actually, brushing your teeth two hours after eating is said to be better for enamel. Mum's a dental assistant ;)

I wipe the razor dry with a towel, use toilet paper to clean any water from between the scales and leave it slightly open on my razor stand to completely dry over night.

I rinse, then wipe dry with towel, then strop 20x on felt to completely remove anything left, then 30x on leather and leave out overnight

I rinse with hot water, and then wipe dry on a fresh towel. I then use a pressure duster, the kind for your keyboard, to blast any water away from the pivot pin, and dry the blade once more. Works well.

Hot water, wipe off water and between scales with tissue, and some Tuf-Glide....
