As it just so happens, I'm studying a (mainly) early 16th century English manuscript ('commonplace book') for my MA thesis, which includes medical recipes in the more popular tradition (as opposed to the more scientific tradition) as well as astrological guides for bloodletting and whatnot. So you can say I find this stuff fascinating.
