Howdy folks.....i'm a member of a weight equiptment forum and we always post pictures of our weight plate scores.....we call it gym porn!
So here is some razor porn (if that is what you call it here). i just picked up these two blades and a stone. I've no idea what I have. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I paid 45 for the two blades, the stone and an old wagner strop that is in medium shape.

I can't speak for the hone, but the razors if professionally honed should work out just fine. Unless there is some damage not visible from the pics.
I was watching that eagle, nice etching. Cant help with info, there is a place on the forums where they list manufacturers.

That eagle blade looks like a nice score. The hone is a barber hone, more specifically a perforated hone. With some work both or those razors should shave just fine.
The eagle is etched into the blade. I have tried to sharpen the blade following vids on youtube. All i have is the stone and a leather strop. I think it is ok sharpe.
I think it may be a lenox cutlery blade.
You won't be able to get a shaving edge from that stone especially in the condition its in. I would suggest sending it out to get a proper shave ready edge.
It is difficult to hone a blade with a full complement of hones, much less a beaten up barbers hone.
Do yourself a favor and get that eagle properly restored by soneone here.
That hone looks a little rough, chips and such, and could damage the edge.
Ok. I wont try the stone again. The leather gets it real sharp. I will just stick with that for now.
Does anybody have an idea how old the eagle blade is?
The Hone is most likely "The Hone Your Own" perforated razor hone. There were a couple of company's that offered this hone back in the day, but I believe this was the sole manufacturer for these hones. The company was called Perforated Hone Company, located in Walkerville, Canada and Detroit, Mich.
The claim to fame for this particular hone was that the holes removed 'wire-edge' and prevented 'Over-honing'. Believe it or not it is actually a pretty good Barber hone....provided you don't 'over use it'. Of course your particular hone is rather rough and will definitely need to be lapped before use.
I have a few of these including a NOS double sided (coarse and fine grit) model. I'll try to re-visit this thread and post some pics in a day or so.

All three are nice finds. Each is definitely restorable.
Both razors should be nice shavers. If you are careful with the restoration the Eagle will look fantastic.
The hone is definitely restorable and will make a nice hone. Start lapping today!
So i picked up a norton 4000 and 8000 stone and a truing stone. I will watch some vids and see how it goes.
Im enjoying this new hobby already.
Take my advice one step at a time:
#1 Learn to shave with a pro-honed razor.
#2 Learn to touch up a razor.
#3 Learn to hone a razor.
Follow these steps and your journey will be a educational and fun one, your face will thank you. If not...well, lets just say it won't be so smooth.

It's actually a rather quick journey for the average joe if you do follow the steps. It takes just a few shaves to build confidence putting a razor to the face, a while to get the lather right, the stretching of the skin right, and stropping down. Average timeframe is about 30 shaves for it to all come together. During that time, you have most likely picked up a couple more razors & hopefully have been entertaining yourself with cleaning them up & getting them honed. By the end of the 30 days, your razor will need touching up, so you can put your enthusiasm to work on the barber stone or finishing stone like the Naniwa 12K or Shapton GS 16. You can touch up the razor you had been shaving with to see if you can get it to match the shave quality of the one(s) you had sent off.
I've had several Ruger .22 pistols as well as other guns brought to me in to put together time and time again because folks don't listen. Literally, the guns were in pieces in boxes. $50 a pop gets them to listen. The male ego gets in the way a LOT, I understand that & still have to fight it from time to time. One of the best things I learned a long time ago is that if I am wanting to learn something new, find someone who is at the top of their game in that field, listen & learn.
