Thread: thiers issard grim razor legit?

I can't believe that anyone is taking those computer generated images seriously. It's obvious that it is not a real razor so why the debate?
The other issue is why Thiers Issard have done nothing to stop the infringement of their name. They are a reputable company who make good quality razors so I can't understand why they would allow their name to be linked to this.

Here's a TI 7/8 Chopper, looks like a really nice blade:

Thanked: 3222This thread seems to have generated a bit of confusion. The blade that you linked directly to in your first post appears to me to likely be a legit TI for the reasons I said. If you go further into the site itself to Straight Razors - "Grim Blades" Straight Razors - Grim Blades - Vintage Straight Razor there are razors etched with Grim Blades Made in the USA on the tang that I would find suspect if that is what others have referred to. They are not likely TI razors.
A TI razor is a very good razor from all reports and in no way does a Gold Dollar qualify to stand even in the TI's shadow. I do not think there have been any reports of any fake TIs showing up OTH I could be wrong.

Yes - just been some searching for the Blade Grim by TI and there's nothing except that one site...that's quite unusual...I always shop around to compare services, prices etc...and can find similar blades in most places, especially like TI's or Dovo's...nothing on this TI at all.
You're right BobH, this is definitely eye-brow raising????

Thanked: 3164Apparently one, maybe two, were ordered by B&B members and the concensus is that they are legit TIs. I expect you would be able to negotiate a good price with TI if you ordered enough from them, especially if they were old models with some faults that a bit of custom grinding personalisation took care of.
Dont think you can shave with computer generated images...

Thanked: 3222Thank you Neil. I did a quick search and turns out the TI versions "may" warrant a second look after all.

I did a search and a member at the B&B ordered one and sent it back, forgive me if it's not allowed to post another forum link, but here is the thread, starting at page 2"

Assuming this is the correct Grim blade we're talking about, but it seems to be...
