Thanked: 3Thoughts on Wacker stainless vs. Carbon Steel
Started straight shaving while deployed overseas with a whipped dog vintage. Looking for a nice new addition now that it's one of the few joys I get during deployment. I was looking at ralf aust Spanish points which led me to wackers.
Thoughts on the stainless vs the carbon steel? I love the horn scales, and if they were on the carbon steel blade I'd be sold (nicer looking blade work as well).
Thoughts?

Thanked: 522I have several Wackers and they shave nicely. Don't overlook a Thiers Issard or a vintage Revisor for nice shavers.

If it was a vintage pocket knife I'd say carbon but being a razor, and with more modern steel technology, it is six of one, half dozen of the other. IOW, they are equally good as far as stainless versus carbon. Some nice stuff in the classifieds right now.
BTW, the TI you're looking at is not a "Hen & Rooster." That is a fox & rooster etched on the blade. TI uses various etchings on the same blades for different vendors. H&R was a different company. Last I heard someone had bought the name and was making razors with that logo in Spain.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
