Anyone know anything about these razors? Couldn't find anything on them in a search and I just won one on the bay for pretty cheap...like I pay more when I order a pizza cheap. Would greatly appreciate any info, if there is any! :)

Jean Coubert was located at "Galerie Vero-Doda" in Paris in the late 1800's and later with another store at 32 Blvd Saint-Michel Paris. Interestingly the "Galerie" was actually and alley between 2 streets with store on both side. An early shopping mall!

From what i gather the store was pretty much a barbers supply business. I dont think Coubert actually fabricated the razor but had them made for his business as you will find some with "Le Grelot" and "Thiers issard" stamps on them and "Fontenille" all high quality item. His advertisement claims as a store of fine cutlery.
The company also published a catalog of barbers supply and instruction as well.

Thanks for the info! The seller said it's a Thiers razor, but also has Paris stamped on the tang. He also said it's damast steel, however the listing pictures weren't that good so I won't be able to see for sure until I get it. Normally I don't like the look of framebacks, but this one isn't too bad. It looks like this razor I found on a google image search, but much more beat up. I'll have to clean it up and scrap the scales.

Here are pics of the actual razor...it's hard to tell what's what because of the quality of the pictures, so bear in mind that once I have it in hand, I'll post better ones

Hey, it's been a busy holiday, but I finally got a chance to take some pics of my two new work in progress razors. I just cleaned it up a little to see what's there.

I'm a sucker for a nice frame back and I have bought quite a few .... including some Couderts
from France e-Bay. I have never been able to find one in really good condition - they have all
come to me with staining and a lot were pitted. But after honing them up, they were all fine shavers.
Good luck with the razor .. I am sure you will like it after a little use.
Hey Pixel, how does your shave? Mine also says deposee but it is spelled with two e's.
Anyone know anything about the Le Favori stamp on the other side?
