Ummmm Value's not allowed. What would you want to do with it as far as restore. It looks like some polish and hone would make it ready to go :<0) I don't have 1 but I hear Bokers are cool.
the KING CUTTER etching is barely visible!! The only thing that i have done is Polish the metal on a cloth wheel with a very fine buffing compound. I didnt get too extensive on the polishing but just cleaned it up a bit. The etching was a little clearer before the polishing though. Is there a way to darken the etching?
Not that I know of. I mean blades can be etched but is it worth it. I don't think so. Lesson 1 on etch. Don't touch,, fragile. I learned the hard way twice and now I won't touch at all.
I dont plan on selling it. I will probably just get it honed and use it. I just wasnt sure if i got a good deal or not. and i dont know if it would be worth it to take it apart and completely restore it.
Well value is somewhat subjective so that is why we don't go there. I think 100, you think 2, heated argument, nothing nice, why go there :<0)
You basically have to decide for yourself. It's something that will pop into your head and go " OH I got to do that to this razor" or not.
Ok Thanks. I really like it the way that it is. I do wish the etching was clearly visible but other than that ill probably just leave it as is(other than getting it honed). Thanks for the advice.
All depends on what you want out of your razor. While it's nice to have the etching, that's not the bit you're going to shave with, so if it's one to use, don't worry about it! :) Get it honed and try it out. I have a couple of King Cutters and they are great shavers. Yours looks like it has seen a fair bit of use (just in that the blade appears narrower than I would have expected - they may have made narrower ones, so I may be completely out to lunch on that) but they were made of good steel.Quote:

I have an older king kutter boker that shaves very well. not much to look at but when shaving I don't look at nothing but angle and direction. now I also have razors that I don't shave with yet but look at often. bottom line is do you like it does it shave well.

Again I say, is it worth it, but as you can see in this thread sometimes it is. I have yet to try etching but as you may be able to ascertain from the posts you will have to have some software and skill set to pull it off.
