13 happened. It's a Morley Clover Brand...
now i has to get another, 13 being such an odd number.:p
There will ALWAYS be a reason to snag another blade - when you get to 100 it'll be too round of a number. Welcome to the club....
I have a Joseph Elliot's Celebrated Razor of a similar grind and heft. It's a good shaver. I hope you like yours.

The John not Joseph Elliot arrived yesterday. It's a hunk of hatchet! I'll get some pics up here later, but this thing makes my 7/8's razors look like play toys. (manly sharp play toys). I'm stoked.
Has some small nicks in the edge. Appears to have had etching buffed off...is _not_ a regrind. The remnants of the etching resembles the English Parliament. Horn scales have been repaired fairly well, but need a bit more clearance for the edge. A few taps with the 4oz tightened it up perfectly.
Seller threw in another Sheffield razor to compensate for shipping issues. It'll need scales and is more nominally sized, shows some hone wear, but looks like it'll shave NP.
And then this Morley "fell into my lap"...So I'm at 14 now.

You made me get up to check that mine is stamped Joseph. It looks like they were a bunch of Johns and Josephs making razors back then. I hope yours turns out to be as nice a shaver as mine is.

Joseph made a lot more razors for sure. Have yet to find any John evidence besides a census listing for an address. I suppose there was a fire, or untimely death, or something.Quote:

Very nice, I was going to say I really like the bottom razor, then I looked again, and realized I liked them all!!
I just sent three blades for a restore, a 8/8 W&B Celebrated Hollow Ground, For Barbers Use, a W&B 7/8th square tip/point (my favorite, square tip all the way!!) Celebrated Extra Hollow Ground, and a 8/8 square tip Joseph Rogers and Sons..they all should clean up well. And that will be enough, until I see the next piece of Sheffield steel that calls my name...love the big blades!!!
By the way Wade, you can send me the John Elliot, thought you mentioned that you intensely disliked those blades...
Arg. Too much time on the 1k, i'm going to hit it on the xfine DMT next round. At this point in time, I think fixing old smilies is worth it. I may grow out of that notion. I started to say I might even send them out, but that just sounds weird saying it...unless I was popping for full restores with some of those great scales. :hmmm:
but i doubt it.
Have edge nearly nick-free and shaping bevel...anyhoo, I gotta fix up a light box and make better pics. notes to self.
