I'm after some advice on what razor to buy next, I'm after something between a half hollow and a wedge. I'm fairly new to straight razors but have a fairly thick beard. I'd rather buy new or NOS but have been tempted by a W&B.
What razor would you advise I look at? My budget is up to $300 (love the £-$ exchange rate right now)
Any advice would be great!

For new you can check out Hart Steel razors, 1/4 Hollow, excellent shavers (not the prettiest scales though ;) ) others I would recommend to keep an eye out in the Classifieds for a used custom or a vintage in good comdition.
TI also has some half hollows. I have their 1939 coiffeur special. It is quite nice. With that sound of a budget you could get many things. There is a vendor here from the UK that does nice restores so check that out too.

+1 on Zephyr's recommendation of the Hart. I have both a 6/8 and a 7/8 and rank them among the best for taking and holding great edge. Wacker makes a "1/4 Hohl" razor in blonde horn that is in the low $200 range. I love mine. Also, Dovo makes a half hollow blade that some here have liked and they are also very inexpensive.

My Wade & Butcher is my favorite razor. The weight and the edge it keeps is great. I think a solid W&B will get the job done for you
Brad(Undream) makes very nice replacement scales out of horn for the Hart Steel razors if you'd be willing to pay a little extra for one.Quote:

I'll chime-in, here. There's nothing like a vintage quarter-hollow... except a professionally restored vintage quarter-hollow.
Maybe see what's available from SRP's world-renowned restorers: Manah, gssixgun, and Maximillian.

Le Grelot and Thiers Issard made some really nice vintage quarter hollow vintage razors. Check the classifieds and ebay. They come up on a semi regular basis.
