I need a little help with an ID of this razor.
I know it's French and a Fontenille, but next is it Medaille? and then ArgI(E)?
The scales are strange, maybe brittle plastic or Bakelite? i don't think horn or bone.
Any history on these? maybe some research links?

Looks like a good old wedge /near wedge you've got there!
It does indeed look like "Fontenille Medaille ARGI", but most that I can find are much newer models. They also made a D'OR model but this isn't that. No other visible identifiers, like a number?
Unfortunately, that is all that I have. Yes I have seen the newer ones but this is an unknown to me.
Yes definately French, Fontenille, Medaille d' Argent,= silver medal from Exhibition.
Like Martin said. Fontenille is an old and good french brand. They were making razors from 1850 to 1960 I'd say.

Charlie said about 1880 for this model. The scales are in horn.
