Grim Blades
I have never seen that website before. My advise is to buy somewhere well known. I believe there is a vendor section on the web site that you can use to find "the good guys"
Unless they are the thiers issard blades, avoid at all cost... Don't get caught up with the cool logo on a cheap razor
I saw these on Huckberry.com. They usually sell quality products, but I haven't seen anything else on these razors anywhere. Didn't see them in the database here and thought someone may have seen them before.
I'm thinking Brett would know a good razor. I'd love to hear about it if you get a chance to see your friends and take it for a spin.
Their ironwood razor looks nice, if it has a good blade. I'll most likely purchase something from a vendor here as well (SRD or Whippeddog), but I liked the look of the grim blades.
I seem to remember a thread about them, as heespharm said the TI one was supposed to be ok, but the rest got mixed responses, maybe do a search for "blades grim" or "grim blades" and you may find it.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Regards ed.
It's all marketing and no substance, if you value your money and face better get something else.
Spend your hard earned $$ on something other than a grim. You can thank us later.
Whipped dog will give you a great shave ready blade for not a lot of coin, but if you have your heart set on something brand new, something like a theirs-Issard from SRD honed by Lynn will serve you very well.
Thanks RMarsh. I've been looking both of those sites over and really like them. I like connecting with people who sell products as a result of their passion and not just to make a profit. (not that making a profit is bad) WPDDOG and SRD are two great looking vendors.
I think my plan is to see what I have with my great grandfather's blades and then go from there. I think i'd really like to have a conversation with whipped dog.
There a rumor that Tim zowada is working with them... Can anybody substantiate this?
Tim Zowada is more than capable of posting about his involvement.
As far as the owner of the business he was banned on this site two years ago, when he first started the business of marketing junk disguised as quality razors. We have repeatedly rejected his attempts to buy an endorsement from us, because this community is about helping prospective shavers, not about helping their fleecing.
YMMV
That's was my take on them and the owner accused me of being a troll... Maybe they'll go a new direction but for the price I'd rather modify a gold dollar and put my own scales to it then buying a 200 dollar razor with poor design cues... That's just my opinion... Some people seem to like it... Ymmv
Different forums have different goals and different priorities and make different choices.
For example, we do not want to get involved in any disputes with third parties. And we do not allow the public airing of people's dirty laundry. So, let's end this topic unless Tim Zowada decides to bring clarification to the question about his involvement that was raised earlier.
I have a grim... bought it a couple months ago. Its not too bad but I didn't get it directly from Grim I went to another grooming e-commerce site that I trusted.
It's time to dispel any rumors, and confirm the facts. In early January (2014), I agreed to work with Luke Webster as a consultant. My responsibilities are to observe their processes and procedures, suggest improvements, and help implement those improvements.
I am most impressed by “Grim's” desire to do whatever it takes to improve the quality of their product. After a few “less than stellar” reviews, all production was stopped until I could take a look at things. On my first visit, I suggested some drastic changes, which were implemented immediately. We are now working on several additional improvements to procedures, processes, and products.
I am not an owner, or shareholder in any of Luke's businesses. I am merely a “hired gun”. But, I am excited by the potential of this company. It will be great to see where it goes.
