This was on a Wade & Butcher i picked up of the bay listed simply as a Sheffield blade. Not only its it oddly shaped,IMO, but it is about a 1/4 inch too short

That was rescaled and a questionable job too.
yeah. i knew they were not original. just never seen any that looked like that. not even open along the bottom. It was very poorly done in pretty much every aspect. I haven't removed them yet but i think they may have drilled out the pivot hole to do it too....
Interesting pinning technique. What is that a wood screw?
Durham Duplex scales?
I'm pretty sure those are the scales from a Durham Duplex, or one of the similar demi-hemi-quasi-safety razors.
:OT One of my 'pet peeves' back years ago, before ebay started showing thumbnails on the pages, was guys that would list a Durham Duplex (hate 'em with a passion) and say that it was "Ivory handled straight razor"
Deffo Durham Duplex. Very alliterative, what?!
Regards,
Neil
UAcowboy, I thought you needed a thanks for allowing so many to regurgitate on your post. Truly, those scales have set the bar very low....hope the blade is cool!
