    Default Short razors

When I decided that I wanted to start using a straight razor I first got a shavette. It worked great for trimming around my beard and after several nicks and a few gushers I got the hang of it and have used it for over 6 months. I've now stepped up to a nice straight razor but am having a hard time with the longer blade for edging around my beard on my cheeks. It's great for my neck, but trying to use just the end of the razor doesn't feel comfortable. Does someone make a shorter length blade?

kamisori would work but they have a bit of a learning curve. Some guys have made "Shorties" from damaged razors. I accidentally bought a Puma Shortie years ago on eBay. I returned it.

If you look around you can find some. I have a Nobiru that has like a 2.25" length. Dubl Duck Dwarf is a shorty. Other than that you can find some customs or you can shorten a blade. Nice way to save a blade that has problems at the toe.

Kamisoris have are about about 1.5-2" long
Heljestrand MK. 30s are about 2-2.5" long
You can also get a normal razor and have someone cut it down a bit, as others have suggested.

I have one called "The MAB" that is a short razor with a bit of a smile and i love it. Shaves every bit as good as my gold edge and my dwarf. Went to a full size the other day and nicked the bottom of my earlobe. I like the smaller size razors. They are much easier to manipulate.

Thank you, I'm looking at the Kamisoris, I didn't realize they were that short. I've also thought about having one cut down. I wonder if that would do anything harmful to the hardness of the blade?

The MK30 and Dubl Duck Dwarf are almost one in the same; they'll shave your face and work the edges neatly if you don't mind a lot of blade-wiping. I own both and, after a while, got comfy with larger blades and square points.

I have found a few 2 1/2 inch blades. Not quite the size of a shavette but a little shorter than the standard 3".
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

If you are looking at new razors, and depending on your budget, I have seen "Shorty" Hart Steel razors from classicshaving and also Max Sprecher has from time to time had a really really gorgeous SOTD photo posted as his version of a shorty razor.
