Hi,
I recently inherited a vintage straight razor which supposedly belonged to my great-great-grandfather.
Sadly the blade is chipped so it's not restoreable, but still a cool keepsake.
I tried to search around for any info around it but found very little results, and i wondered if someone could help me out.
The maker is Deutsche waffen & fahrrad-fabriken - Kreiensen.

Welcome to SRP. Sad indeed that the razor has such a large chip, but fortuitous that the chip is out towards the point. Many of our members have taken such damaged razors and shortened them and put them back into service. Not an ideal situation but a way of , as we say in the USA, making lemonade out of a lemon. We have members in Norway who are avid straight razor users and perhaps someone who might be able to help you with that razor if you so desire. A rough translation of the maker is German Weapons and Bicycle Factory located in the town of Kreiensen which is now part of the city of Einbeck. Looks to be a bit away from Solingen. A quick search turned up ads from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Thanks. Could the numbers '29 97' stamped in the tang of the razor represent the time of production e.g. week 29, 1897, or is it related to steel quality or something else?
Numbers stamped on the tang could mean virtually anything, unfortunately, and there is no real way of telling unless you had the company records. Getting a definitive date of manufacture for any razor is near impossible.
