Default Razor and their boxes - Bohler Extra Columbia Soliingen #24

I purchased 4 straight razors with boxes this past weekend, and I'm beginning to realize that I don't believe I have the original boxes that came with them.

One box that advertises Rudolph Schmidt Bambola has instead a Bohler Extra Colombi Solingen#24 in it.

Not knowing enough about razors and their boxes, I am wondering whether any of the other boxes I have is one that this razor would have come in.

This razor looks in pretty good condition, but I'm sure it would look nicer if it was cleaned up. Not knowing anything about how to clean a straight razor I am asking for help on whether this razor is one that is worth sending out to be cleaned.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Welcome to SRP. It is more common than not to find razors and boxes mismatched. At least IME par for the course. The tang of the razor, by the pivot pin, will identify the maker. Sometimes they do match but many times they do not.

That razor has some patina but the edge looks clean. I might take some metal polish, a q-tip and a paper towel to it to give it a light cleaning. TBH I don't think it would be worth the price of a full restore, though it certainly should be pro-honed, unless you have the tools and skill to do that yourself.

Any good metal polish and 000 or 0000 steel wool will work, Turtle Wax, Mother’s, Blue Magic, Flitz, Semi Chrome, and MAAS.

I start with Mother’s or Turtle Wax polishing compound and finish with Maas and blue paper shop towels. After as good cleaning.

Clean blade and scales with WD40 and fine steel wool. Then go from there if needed.

Mass will also shine the scales.

Bohler Stahl (steel) dates back to the 1800s in Austria Vienna.
After some quick research I was able to find that this German cutler was actually a Jewish company which was forced to remove its stamp from their razors during the Second World War - a Jewish Star of David which this razor would have had during pre Nazi Germany.
