F. Montigel history.
Gentlemen. This is my first post to this site. I'm trying to find out a little bit of the history of razor maker F Montigel. I have recently purchased a straight stamped F. Montigel made in Germany and VBM diamond edge on the other side. It's turned out to be one of the smoothest shavers I have. The only other thing I've been able to track down with those marks are the VBM Darky. Any help with the history of this would be greatly appreciated. Very respectfully.

I don't know if this is relevent, but I spotted the same name and Newark, N.J. on a razor recently.
Just go to "browse store", they only have one razor advertised at the moment.

I saw that in my searches. The only difference is mine is not stamped Newark. I just can't seem to find anything about these razors except pictures of them for sale.

As Bongo stated F. Montigel was in Newark New Jersey, selling cutlery. From the article below, seems like this razor was imported for Montigel from Germany, after J. Montigel passed away. Nevertheless a high quality razor.

Thank you for the info. I love finding out the history behind these old razors. Half the reason I like getting them back to working order.
Thanks again.
Very respectfully,
