Yes, it would have bn excellent to have known him!
He isn't Scotlands only metallurgical son though. The renowned David Mushet was a Scottish ironmaster - a man of iron, and his son Robert Forrester Mushet achieved just as much with RMS (Robert Mushets Special Steel) that was used over continents for railroads - the Man of Iron begat a Man of Steel.

My dad says when you can see 2 plates of iron fused together with your hand..and see a 360 degree round welded bead...You made something real. Hes a welder. I trust this guy with my life. Hes watching his grandson play baseball near Cooperstown today.

So as my one says "cooper brothers" would that date it as 1860s ?
