Redline, here are three that I'm assuming are pre-WWII Pumas. Note that they are branded as being made with Kayser Ellison Sheffield Steel, ground in Solingen, Germany. The reverse tang on all three is stamped Lauterjung & Sohn. The paper box is marked Puma Trademark Warranted and Sheffield Steel. I'm going to post another, that I assume is the transition from the Sheffield steel to the Pumamaster steel, standby ;

I'm not sure if this would be pre war, or post war. I picked it up NOS with the correct box. Box is marked the same as the blade, a No 1 6/8 Friseur Freund (barber's friend) The reverse tang is stamped Neuen Pumastahl. You'll note that your 'High Class' is also stamped Pumamaster steel but not Neuen and not Stahl ..... at least that is what I'm guessing The old High Class I sold was so stamped. I think the plastic boxes made to look like wood were a '50s or '60s development. I do remeber them from the early '70s but I wasn't really aware of Puma until '73. If Manah, Neil, Zak or Martin see this thread maybe they can date yours and mine with more precision. I'm just guessing.

I always thought the model 91s were 60s vintage. Probably very early 60s.
Thanks for all the input!

I have a puma 90 5/8 high class similar to yours.
You can try to salvage the gold by cuting a peice of painters tape or other adequate tape to cover the design's exact shape. That will make
sure you arent polishing the gold off and the rest of the blade will be polished. Its how I did mine.
