Default Can you tell me why?

Bought this pre owned.. Its in God condition except the bevel is like 0.5m off

It doesn't shave great at all... Its been honed stropped and it will preform the hanging hair test very well but it shaves like shit if I'm being honest i.e pulls rather than cuts

Is the 0.5 the reason for this do u think? Is so how do I get this fixed, keep in mind I've no stones Yet :-)

If you look in the classified section there are a few ads for honing. They are under the heading member services. There is at least one guy in the UK that hones for people. I'd think your best solution is to contact them and get your blade up to speed. You will find it a very troubled path to learn to shave and hone at the same time. Once you have been shaving for six months to a year you may want to venture into honing. With the cost of hones you can get a three razor rotation honed every year for a long time.

How long have you been using a straight? I ask because the biggest issue from beginners is their perception that their razor in not shave ready when in fact it's their technique that not quite there.

The other thing - what do you mean the bevel is .5mm off? The fact that it cuts arm hair easily enough suggests there is not much wrong with it.

I have another straight Dovo classic and it's perfect get BBS with it every time so I don't think it's my technique at all.

If you see the Base of the blade is slightly thicker than the end if that makes sense.

I was going to ask if the blade was wider at the heel than the toe or if it was just the photos perspective. I guess it is the blade then. That is a little wonky to me but I don't know how much that would effect the shave if the blade was sharp enough to begin with.

It has been said on here at various times that the HHT may not always give the most reliable indication of shave readiness. The actual shave is the true test. Might be time to send it for honing and you could get the taper fixed at the same time.

Maybe it's just me (or the photo), but that razor looks to have a frown. That needs to be fixed. If you have little to no honing experience you should send it out for honing.

Nice razor. Looks like a frown from the photos. Probably not something you want to try to fix yourself. Send it to someone other than the person who previously honed it.

I think Neil Miller hones - can't ask for a better fellow to do it in your area, IMO.
