Even though I am relatively new to straight razors, I can't help but giggle every time I see a Gillette commercial. So reply to this thread if you feel the same way.

I do more than giggle with the fusion pivot razor. It's ridiculous.
me too. My wife still uses a Gillette something for women and she's been complaining about the quality of new blades recently. I said I bet they either have or are about to come out with a new one. That's what always happened on the men's side. When a new razor "gimmick" came out the old blades never seemed as good as they had been, kind of forcing you to bite on the "deal" for the new style handle and cartridges.

"Electric dildo by Gillette" .... :rofl2:
Who has time for TV commercials, I'm way too busy trolling Ebay for old razors.
I love how in the commercial for the new pivot head they down talk an try to show how bad their previous design was (is). When just a couple weeks ago it was the greatest shave a man could get... right???? One blade(edge) super sharp is going to win every time in my book. :tameshigiri:
Gillette Proglide review here
I've realized the same thing. I purchased a DE razor and started shaving with cream from a TUB about 3 years ago, and haven't touched a cartridge razor since (well, I threw the old Schick into a box when I moved...). The new Gilette pivot-thing uses the same marketing as Dyson's vacuums...
There is a new commercial using their Dyson razor rigged to press piano keys. It is so silly... Like why would you ever need that? What does that have to do with shaving?
I have not used a cartridge razor probably since my 3rd or 4th shave with my straight. but now have run into a situation,....Manscaping? :nono:
You can use a de for manscaping. I do.
Your a brave man :)
I thought this thread would have blown-up by now. I love shaving with a straight razor and don't think I'll ever go back except for manscaping
I don't know - running down Gillette is essentially the equivalent of running down American Style Capitalism if you really think about it. And who wants to do that?
You could easily write a paper on it.
Parallels:
Gillette introduces and pushes disposables to increase profits - the divorce rate increases.
Gillette's need to keep sales high utilizing "innovating" useless enhancements - ADHD increases
LOL - have fun with it :).
These days they sell dildos, vibrators & sex toys in TV commercials!!!!!!!!
