Care of Vintage Razor

I just started started using a straight razor.Still on probation .My question is how to care and maintain a vintage razor .The razor I use most is my Dovo 5/8 .But I like to use Vintage Razors to mix things up a bit and to learn how to use different style blades.For my Dovo I make sure the blade is properly dry and that their is no water on the scales .I will strop the razor before use .
I have a Vintage Wade and Butcher Humpback that I use once a week .Is there any special care to deal with the older steel blade and bone scales . I do not want to mistreat this wonderful old razor .Thanks for your help.

The steel care is mostly the same, however bone scales can easily suck up oil and discolor over time. I think you should make sure they have an ample coat of Renaissance wax to keep them looking like nice bone scales. They don't look as nice when stained black with old oil. Clean dry and lightly oiled when not in use, store them in a dry spot, and of course strop before use.

Welcome to SRP M14 Shooter: I like to use Mothers or Maas polish on my razors once a month. It removes the oxidation and keeps them nice and shiny. I also wipe my razors with a Tuf Cloth (Marine Grade) when not used in my weekly rotation.

Welcome to SRP Mike. After rinsing the razor I dry it with a tissue, check inside and out on the scales for any water, and finally strop 20 round trips on leather figuring that if there is any micro gunk on the striations in the bevel that will take care of it. I used to follow that with a wipe down with a silicone gun cloth impregnated with R.I.G. but I only do that once in awhile now. So far so good.
