Are we taking about razors my girlfriend knows about or a total total?

I don't hide any from my wife but she doesn't really ask. I don't think she wants to know. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

I just showed that to my wife. "See? I don't have it THAT bad." I only have just over 100.
I have a room in the house dedicated to razors and hones(about 50). Gotta love the wife who enables!

WOW...to those who have 100s, do you use them/most of them? is it just a fun: "let's see what I use today?!" thing?

That is part of it for sure. There is also the collecting of rare or unusual razors, and the repair and restoration aspect. I do have my most commonly picked razors. Oddly enough very rare razors often sell for much less than the hyped razors and those with a large fan following base. Razors made in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s in need of repair are often seen for under $50. There are some here that only have very rare or unusual razors in their collection.

Ooh that's a good point actually, makes me feel a bit better about possibly buying razors outside of a need! Interesting what you said about rare vs hyped though. I've found 1700s razors to be rare (esp. those that aren't broken beyond repair in some way) for sure, but those that I've seen are often quite expensive...but maybe that's just me. The 2 I've gotten from ebay have been about US$200 (before restoration). The first really old razor I got - my fox&norris from a member of this forum I ended up paying <$100 in all including restoration.

I'm a BIG fan of very old Sheffield razors so I'd very much like to find more, but I'm increasingly finding ebay to be almost nonsensical in terms of price if prices on this (and other) FORUMS are to be taken as norm. Sadly, however, my local antique stores are even WORSE.

As always if you put in the time watching you will find bargains, you just need to enjoy the watching and looking for it to be worth the effort. I likely buy one for every hundred razors on my watch list and don’t get to look through antique stores often but enjoy it when I get the chance.

I only have one black and one white scaled razor.

That way when SWMBO asks why I have taken the black razor apart 3 times this week and polished it and honed it I can tell her that it just isn't right yet and I am trying to get it perfect!
