When I oil razors (long-term storage), I treat them the same way I treat my woodworking tools (and Japanese blades): I have a rag rolled into a can, saturated with a light oil (3-in-1 or camelia). I just lightly swipe the blade on the rag. If the oil beads, you probably put too much. I clean the razors with alcohol when I get them out of storage.

My normal rotation razors don't get oiled, but they're also not stored in the bathroom.

Same for me. The Swiss Miss can generate 100% humidity when showering. Best to keep the metal someplace else.

I'm solidly in the Tuf-Glide camp. Use it on razors, knives and guns with excellent results.

It's the same when you are stupid.

I don't oil my users. I heat the blade under hot water, wipe it dry, set it out open while I'm putting up the rest of my toys, then I put it in my razor storage still open. I close when I grab the next one for my next shave. Got blades that have been treated that way for two years and not a spot of rust nor a stain anywhere.

    YMMV.

Get them cleaned-up, apply TuffGlide, wipe em off, go pretty much with Wullie's program for years. I do strop them 40 before I close. No issues.

    I rest my case.

You live in an arid environment though don't you?

Tuf-Glide works great. I mainly use it to oil the pivot but have accidentally gotten it on the blade & it left no spots.

Not really. Dallas/Ft Worth is on the edge of the TX green belt. Our humidity doesn't run as high as the Houston area but it is far from what I'd classify as arid. Most of the time, our dew points are in the 50's and 60's. I do have central heat and AC which helps keep the humidity inside the house lower.

I store my user razors in a big Plano tackle box but I have no dryers inside it. The stuff in there doesn't get exposed to any big temperature swings so there is no issue with condensation.
